Digital certificate renewalbefore invoicing grinds to a halt.

An expired certificate stops invoice issuance, eSocial filings and access to e-CAC (the Federal Revenue Service's online portal). Renew a few days ahead: while the certificate is still valid, the process is simpler and usually doesn't require a new video call.

How it works

Three situations, three paths.

Certificate still valid

You use your current certificate to identify yourself. In most cases, no new video call is needed.

Certificate expired

It's issued as if it were the first time: video validation with your original paper ID, or in person in Extrema.

Certificate from another company

We issue the new one through our Registration Authority. From then on, support and renewal are handled by Target.

Questions

What people ask before renewing.

When should I renew?
Before it expires. While your certificate is still valid, renewal usually doesn't require a new video call, because the certificate itself is used to identify you. Once it has expired, you need to validate again.
Can I renew with Target a certificate issued by another company?
Yes. Technically it's a new issuance — certificates can't be transferred between Certificate Authorities — but the process is the same, and from then on support and renewal are handled by Target.
Can I switch media when renewing?
Yes. Many people move from an A3 token to Cloud, or from A1 to A3, as the way they work changes.
What happens if the e-CNPJ expires?
Issuing invoices and filing obligations such as eSocial (Brazil's payroll and labor reporting system) stop until the new certificate is issued. That's why it's worth renewing a few days ahead.
